Fall of America
The fall of America is the rise of the politician. It is the fault of the citizens that they exist. We have lofted our government so high that we expect our representatives to be celebrity and perfect. To that need has risen a new class of people, with money, schooling and treacherous hearts willing to sell their integrity for power.
The salvation of the nation is in its devaluing. Representatives should be treated as any cheap item of commerce, purchased when favorable and discarded often with little regret. Once we are free to discard as we whim, the value of the positions will become less prestigious. The politician class will disperse, because leadership will have degenerated to subservience. After that transformation, only those who want to serve their nation will apply. The democracy will be reborn.
The new nation begins with the old election's end. The fault of our current government lies in the elections. Their frequency and stifled form favors incumbency. The voting should be held every year and submissions should be permissible three months up to the day of tax deadline. With the tallying of our debts would come the tally of our votes. By the start of summer new officials would be sworn in. The art of campaign will crash to a halt. No coffers would be deep enough to keep pace. The constant flow of officials through office would destroy its value, scattering the politicians. The fragility of the position would lend officials to heed our needs. America as we've come to know it will fall, and a new nation, beholden to the ideals of democracy, will be born.
